Woodville Special correspondent Woodville Go Bush worked impressively yesterday morning at Woodville in preparation for the Canterbury Gold Cup at Riccarton on Saturday. Noel Harris will ride him at Riccarton. Woodville stables have already raced well at the N.Z. Cup meeting, with more success expected today, and Go Bush should perform with distinction. He won handsomely at Foxton last week in his middle-distance debut. Fast work took place yesterday on the inside grass, which was easy, and on the two-year-old grass, where times were approximate. Go Bush went 1000 metres in 1:2.5 on the inside grass, taking 50.2 for the last 800 m and 36.8 for the 600rn. He was travelling easily all the way. Sir Nova and The Spoofer, preparing for the WoodvillePaihiatua meeting on Saturday, galloped 1000 metres in 1:3, the last 600 m in 37.1. Sir Nova went well at a middledistance at Foxton, but reverts to either 1400 m or 1600 m on Saturday. The Spoofer is booked to resume in the Glengowan Handicap. Her trainer, John Sargent,

moves to Otaki after Saturday’s races. Mozart and Savishna, which is to race at the Napier Park meeting, went 800 m in 50.3, the last 600 m in 37.2. Jim Walker rides Savishna.
