Brundle champion
PA Wellington Martin Brundle became the world sportscar champion at Japan’s Fuji circuit on Sunday when he drove his Castrol/Jaguar to a fifth victory in ten races. This win ensured that his closest rival, Jean-Louis Schlesser, of Sauber-Mercedes, cannot catch up in next month’s final round. The Englishman Brundle shared the driving with the American Eddie Cheever and the Anglo-American team surged ahead after seventy laps of the 4.47 km circuit, taking five hours and 28 minutes 5.941 seconds to complete the race.
