Close golf struggle
The closeness of the struggle for first place compensated for generally poor scoring at the Canterbury women’s golf champion of champions tournament at the Windsor course yesterday. Kerrin Starr, who had won both the Christchurch and Avondale titles, gradually overhauled the first round leader, Lynne-Marie Shaskey (Waitikiri), to win the event by one stroke.
Scores were:— Kerrin Starr, 80, 76, 156; Lvnne-Marie Shaskey, 77. 80, 157; Kerri Williams (Kaiapoi), 79, 87, 166; Margaret Start (Rangiora), 80, 89, 169. Best net; Jill Ockenden (Windsor), 149; Sheila Hutchinson (Lincoln) 151.
