Lotto luck pondered
PA Auckland The Lotteries Commission has set its statisticians to work to find out on how a North Shore man scooped 10 prizes in last week-end’s Lotto draw including the first division prize of more than $1 million. The senior production officer with the commission, Mr Wilson Hull,, said the man had filled in all
10 boards on a $5 coupon and stuck with a series of numbers on every board to win the 10 prizes. He won the first division prize of $1,006,550, a second division prize of $13,470.70, seven third division prizes of $731.90 each and one fourth division prize of $35.50 — a total of $1,025,116.16. The statisticians are working on the odds of 10
wins coming from a coupon which might not be as high as some people thought, Mr Hull said. It depended on the sequence of numbers he stuck with, and each board would have its own set of odds. The chances of winning a first division prize with one board was about one in 3.8 million, Mr Hull said.
