The president of the Canterbury

Squash Rackets Association, Alan Dunlop, said that two big tournaments — the New Zealand age-group championships and the New Zealand secondary schools championships — have been held in Christchurch this year and running the nationals should not pose a problem. •'We can do it as well, if not better, than most of them in the North; Island,” Mr i Dunlop said. He said that the basic criteria now was that one in three New Zealand charm pionships came to the South Island. Mr Dunlop said that being awarded the championships was especially opportune with the good performance of the Canterbury teams at this year’s nationals, the women finishing second and the men third. “It’s quite exciting.”
