Winds slow yacht

NZPA-AAP Adelaide Verbatim, the leading Australian entry in the Around Australia Yacht Race, arrived at Adelaide early yesterday morning after being stalled by light winds. Race officials earlier predicted Verbatim would arrive at Adelaide’s North Haven Marina at about 8 p.m. yesterday. Verbatim is currently running second over all behind the giant Kiwi trimaran Steinlager 1, which arrived in Adelaide three days ago. Verbatim was battered by 70 knot winds and 10 metre seas as it made its way across the Great Australian Bight last week. It is being followed by a fleet of about eight smaller yachts led by monohulls Alstar and N.B.L. Technovator which are all expected to arrive in Adelaide tomorrow afternoon.
