Schoolboy not allowed back
NZPA Sydney The New Zealand Consul in Sydney has declined a request by a Tongan-born schoolboy, aged 19, to return to New Zealand after he became stranded in Australia without a visa. Viliami Ofahengaue, a New Zealand schoolboy rugby representative, applied for a work permit at the consulate last week so he could
return to New Zealand. The Consul, Mr Noel Parker, said he had received instructions from Wellington that Ofahengaue should not be allowed back into New Zealand “under any circumstances.” “He was in New Zealand unlawfully and he was told before he left for that his visa could not be renewed,” he said.
