Poison laid in parks to kill rabbits
Rabbit poison is being laid in three areas by the Christchurch City Council’s parks and recreation department this week. Laying the poison in signposted areas began yesterday and will continue until Friday. The poison is Talon, a bran-based pellet about 2cm long, and the diameter of a cigarette. It is usually laid near freshlyturned earth. The department said people, especially those with animals such as dogs or horses, should keep awaay from the areas. The sites for laying the poison are in the top plateau of Victoria Park, next to the Summit Road, the Charlesworth Street Reserve in Ferrymead bounded by the Linwood Avenue extension, Humphreys Drive and Charlesworth Street, and the city council works department yard bounding Ferry Road and the Charlesworth Street reserve.
