Soccer dates change
The Christchurch national league soccer team will play its scheduled final round match 10 days earlier because of the trans-Tasman series involving New* Zealand and Australia. Christchurch will meet Wellington United at Wellington next Thursday and plays its final league match against Gisborne City at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Sunday, October 9. The Wellington match will probably have an evening kick off, depending on flight arrangements. Originally it was to be played on October 16 but that date clashes with the Australia versus New Zealand second leg match at Bendigo. The Chatham Cup final between Christchurch and Waikato will still be played at Labour Day week-end with the first leg in Christchurch on Saturday, October 22, and the second leg in Hamilton on Monday, October 24. meanwhile, summer soccer is unlikely to go ahead next year. A meeting of national league club chairmen at the week-end came out against the proposal, which some northern administrators had been pushing for.
