Grievance claim won
Eric Woods Holdings, Ltd, previously trading as The Body Shop, Ltd, has been ordered to pay $630 to a woman who the Labour Court has ruled was unjustifiably dismissed by The Body Shop. Mrs Pam Hartley had been dismissed on June 29. The Canterbury Cleri-
cal Workers' Union, in an action brought, on her behalf, claimed the dismissal was unjustified and sought compensation and wages.
Judge Palmer said Mrs Hartley’s personal grievance rights would be enforcable against The Body Shop under its
changed corporate name, Eric Woods.
The company had changed its name on March 3, while her personal grievance, known to The Body Shop, had yet to be heard; under the Companies Act the newly named company was still liable.
