Hawks win Rules
NZPA Sydney Hawthorn-Hawks won the 1988 Victorian Football League (VFL) Aussie Rules grand final by crushing Mel-bourne-Demons, 152 to 56 in front of 94,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday. Hawthorn went into the match as favourite and led by 17 points at quarter-time, 49 points at half-time and 56 points at three-quarter-time. The final goal score was 22.20 to 6.20.
