Public Notices HECTOR’S DOLPHIN: DISCUSSION PAPER AND PUBLIC MEETINGS THE Department of Conservation has now released a paper for public comment on the protection of the endangered Hector’s Dolphin around Banks Peninsula. This document sets out the options available, and outlines the Department’s proposal to establish a Marine Mammal Sanctuary around the coast from Sumner Head to the Rakala River. Copies of the discussion paper are available at a cost of $4 from the Department’s Christchurch office, 133 Victoria St and the Akaroa County Council offices. Public meetings will be held at Christchurch on October 5 and Akaroa on October 6,1988, to discuss the issues.
