Education Vacancies THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC FELLOW IN ATOLL AGRICULTURE POST 88/69 APPLICATIONS are Invited for the post of Fellow In the Institute for Research, Extension and Training in Agriculture. The Institute is centred together with the School of Agriculture on the UnlversItys’ campus at Alafua In Western Samoa. The Fellow in Atoll Agriculture will be based upon a sub station located in Tarawa, Kiribati, and will be responsible to the Director of IRETA for the continuation of ongoing research programme into systems of farming to sustain yields of food crops particularly vegetables In an atoll environment. Applicants should possess good first degree in agriculture, horticulture or applied science with preferbly higher degree In Agronomy or soli science and experlnce of tropical agriculture prefarably in an atoll environment. In addition the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent of basic salary, appointment allowance and subject to the University’s current housing policy, a partly furnished accommodation at a rental of 12.5 per cent of salary. The University will contribute 10 per cent of the appointee’s salary towards an approved superannuation scheme or provident fund. The University has also introduced a home currency option to members of staff who are based outside their home countries to assist them with exchange rate fluctuations. VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON HALF LECTURESHIP IN MONEY AND FINANCE APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably qualified women and men for appointment as half-time Lecturer in Money and Finance, to be taken up on February 1, 1989. The position is funded for an initial 5-year period, with the possibility of renewal, through the NZ Society of Actuaries. The appointee will be expected to play a supporting role in the development of a new graduate Diploma in Financial Mathematics, centred round material in the first part of the actuarial professional qualification. S/he will be expected to take responsibility for an introductory course in economics and accountancy, and to contribute to a course in the mathematics of finance. Preference will be given to applicants with established records of teaching and research in finance, but applicants with more general backgrounds in economics and accountancy with demonstrated Interest in the area of finance are encouraged to apply. This half-lectureship may be taken as a full-time position for half the year, with preference for the first half, or as a half-time position for the whole year, by negotiation. The salary scale for Lecturers is $NZ35,000-$42,500 per annum, where there is a bar; then $44,000, $45,000, $46,000 per annum.
