Hospital cuts
Sir,—Every day in the news, either in the papers or on television, we are informed that hospitals are obliged to curtail spending, resulting in longer waiting lists and poorer service because of cut-backs. Could someone please tell me why the proceeds from Lotto and Golden Kiwi could not be allocated to all hospitals throughout New Zealand? All citizens would reap the benefit and not just a chosen few. Those who have no need of hospital treatment during their lifetime must be in the minority.—Yours, etc., M. E. STANTON. September 19, 1988.
