Protection for futures

The Securities Law Reform Bill, presently before Parliament, will put paid to shady dealings by unauthorised futures brokers, the New Zealand Futures Exchange said yesterday. The bill is designed as a separate amendment to the Securities Act, and is in six parts with part three relating only to futures contracts. This part restricts futures dealing to those dealers belonging to an authorised futures exchange, or those authorised by the Securities Commission to operate as futures brokers.
