Motu Mister Smooth wins trial
Motu Mister Smooth, the runner-up in both the Needham Heatley Stakes at Te Awamutu (to Tight Connection) and Kindergarten Stakes at Wyndham (to National Gloiy), last term, was in winning form at the Rangiora trials on Monday. Back with original trainer, Barry Woodfield, the Smooth Fella —Motu Princess colt led throughout the CO mobile pace over 2600 m, sprinting home from the 800 m in 58.4 with his last 400 m in a sharp 28.5. The full distance took a slow 3:37.
