Top cueists easily progress
Both the reigning New Zealand snooker champion, Steve Robertson (Wellington) and the hot favourite for this year’s title, Harry Haenga (Wellington) went through the first round of the Lion Brown national snooker championships with ease at the Richmond Workingmen’s Club yesterday. Haenga won both his games in fine style with breaks of 58, 74 and 55. Canterbury’s Peter De Groot, runner-up to this year’s billiards’ title and the 1985 snooker champion, has also made it to the next round with all his
lives intact having dealt with Bay , of Plenty’s Kerry McGeechie, 3-0. De Groot made breaks of 52 and 45 in that match.
