Pupil awarded medal for maths
A Christchurch high school pupil is among 25 South Pacific and Australasian pupils to win a medal in the Australian Mathematics Competition. Robert Mouat, of Christchurch Boys’ High School, will go to Melbourne next month to collect the medal. He won it after sitting an examination on August 3 against more than 400,000 other pupils in New Zealand, Australia
and elsewhere in the South Pacific. Two other New Zealanders gained awards: David Brennan, of Rangitoto College, Auckland, and David Wallace, of Rongotai College, Wellington. Robert Mouat will receive his award from a distinguished Australian mathematician, Professor Bernhard Neumann, on October 24.
