Two youths killed
PA Invercargill Two Southland youths, aged 18, were killed in separate accidents early yesterday morning. They were David Andrew Ashby, of Mataura; and Owen James Blyth, of Invercargill. Mr Ashby, who was riding a motor-cycle, died in a collision with a bus as he tried to overtake it
south of Pukerau at the Benio turn-off at 2.50 a.m., the police said. Mr Blyth was travelling in a car with Corey Shane McLaughlan, aged 18, when it hit a power pole on Dunns Road, near Invercargill, at 1.10 a.m. Mr McLaughlan was admitted to Southland Hospital with serious injuries and was reported in a “comfortable” condition.
