Pakeha
Sir,—l object to the term pakeha, used to classify nonMaori New Zealanders. According to the book "Old-time Maoris,” by Makarita Papakura, the word pakeha was a corruption of a favourite crude retort of the early whalers. I question the validity of the use of the term in New Zealand today. — Yours, etc.,
