Australian teachers hired as relievers
PA Auckland The Auckland Education Board has recruited 29 Australian teachers for temporary relief work next term.
Graduating teachers in South Australia were finding work hard to get, said the board’s recruitment officer, Ms Sheryl Wilson. Three advertisements had drawn a “flood of replies.”
“I was surprised by the number of families prepared to travel here. They are so desperate to get into the teaching service.”
She said teacher’s colleges were “churning out teachers virtually for unemployment.”
