July mild, dry, windy
The mild weather during July has advanced conditions for growth and this could make trees more vulnerable to frosts, according to the Lincoln Climate Station. July was a very mild, diy, windy month, with slightly higher than average sunshine hours — 127 compared with the mean of 122 hours. The temperature was 2.3 deg. above average for the maximum, 12.6 deg., the minimum, 2.6 deg., and the mean, 7.6 deg. Pressures were generally higher than average, with anticyclones and westerlies dominating the month. Rainfall for the month was 24.9 mm. The potential evapotranspiration was only slightly less that the total rainfall and as a result, soil moisture at the end of the month was as dry as at the beginning.
