PA Wellington A former police surgeon, Dr Bill Treadwell, of Wellington, has been appointed medical adviser to the New Zealand Racing Conference, after its introduction of drug tests for jockeys. Recently retired as chief medical adviser to the New Zealand Police, Dr Treadwell is past chairman of the council of the New Zealand Medical Association and a medical steward of the Wellington Racing Club. He is also a general medical practitioner. Recent changes to the rules of racing allow testing of riders for drugs and the introduction of a medical record book for each rider.
