Airlines in industry
Efficient air travel is a vital component in the smooth running of many courier assignments. Major airlines such as Air New Zealand both carry courier material for other courier companies and also offer their own courier services.
"There has always been a need . for paper and documents to travel around the country, and despite the advent of the fax there is still a demand for hard copy,” said Mr Alan Dale, Cargo Sales marketing supervisor for Air New Zealand.
“I had thought that developments such as the fax would slow things down but it has not happened.” “As far as Air New Zealand is concerned we carry the bulk of courier documents from A to B in a consolidated form.”
“Once the destination is reached the courier packages are de-consolidated and passed on to the relevant courier or destination.”
For Air New Zealand Cargo one of their strongest points is provided in the size and frequency of the internal services they can offer couriers.
“We have got the coverage of New Zealand-with 26 towns up and down the country, with over 200 flights per day,” Mr Dale said.
“Other couriers use our product and we are also competing with our products.”
“Ours is the only product of its type with a same day service.”
Mr Dale is confident that Air New Zealand Cargo have the courier products to serve this market well.
