Pupils to exhibit photographic work

Rochelle Lewis, of Papanui High School, and Gareth Lamb, of Burnside High School, will have their photographic essays on Parliamentary life exhibited at a “Parliament Week” exhibition in Wellington next week. They are among seven from throughout New Zealand who will meet in Wellington on Tuesday for the launching of the exhibition at the Beehive. The exhibition will be one of the main features of “Parliament Week,” from July 25 to 29, which is being held to help young people understand more about the Parliamentary system. Earlier this year, the seven spent a day at Parliament photographing an aspect of Parliamentary life before returning to their schools to develop and print the work. Rochelle Lewis photographed people at work on Hansard, the Parliamentary Council, the research unit and the travel section. Gareth Lamb photographed symbols of Parliament including costumes, heraldry and the many architectural forms which Parliamentary traditions. V’
