August appeal date for Cassidy

NZPA-AAP Sydney the disqualified jockey, Jim Cassidy, will have his appeal to the New South Wales Racing Appeals Tribunal heard on August 22. Chief judge of the tribunal, Justice Cahill, set the date yesterday. The twenty-five-year-old former New Zealand jockey was disqualified for 12 months by Australian Jockey Club stewards after his ride on Cruising in the Clintons Toyota Handicap at Rosehill on June 8. Stewards charged Cassidy with not riding the horse on its merits, after Cruising had finished third in the race, and disqualified him for 12 months.

Cassidy has since had an appeal to the Australian Jockey Club committee dismissed.
