Sir,—John D. Canham (July 8) writes that the resurrection of Christ . makes Christianity a unique religion. All the major religions are unique in the sense that their origins can be traced back to different ages and societies and that they each have their own unique founders. The process of differentiating between religions tends to obscure the similarity of their fundamental teachings. The reading of the sacred writings of other religions and meeting with their adherents is one way for people to overcome prejudices based on ignorance and fear. A greater- understanding of other faiths is crucial if religion is to become a unifying rather than dividing force in global affairs. — Yours, etc., TONY BANKS. July 8, 1988.
