Rise in bus fares

Sir,—Mr M. G. Taylor, the general manager of the Christchurch Transport Board, has all the skills of a true politician. In spite of being asked several direct questions by myself, P. J. Nisbet and Erica Eason, he has, instead, given justification for the increases in children’s bus fares. Could he please answer these questions? Is it easier for the bus drivers to click a multi-trip card or handle cash? Who gains the advantage in the purchase of a multi-trip card; the C.T.8., which has our money in advance, or the child passenger, who receives no concession at all? — Yours, etc., ELIZABETH MARSHALL. July 4, 1988.

[Mr Taylor advises that he has no further comment on this matter.]
