PA Masterton An application for court orders requiring two witnesses to attend the Wairarapa electoral inquiry was declined by the High Court. After hearing of evidence by Labour Party officials trying to get the two witnesses to court, and discussion in chambers, the Chief Justice, Sir Ronald Davison instructed counsel for Mr Reg Boorman, the member of Parliament for Wairarapa, to make further efforts to subpoena the two witnesses. The electoral petition inquiry into the attempt by the National candidate, Mr Wyatt Creech, to overturn Mr Boorman’s onevote majority at the August, 1987, General Election was adjourned at Masterton and will resume in the High Court in Wellington on Tuesday.
