Jail on theft charge

A woman who stole two wallets and their contents from the staff room of a Christchurch store told the police she needed cash to pay for a lawyer, said Sergeant C. Woodham in the District Court yesterday. Maria Loi Luafutu, aged 23, a solo mother (Mr R. S. Peters), also admitted assaulting a member of the store’s staff and using insulting words.
