Mr Jack Beattie and Mrs Lorna Beattie, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary yesterday. Mr Beattie was born in Glasgow, in 1911, and came to New Zealand at the age of 17. The couple were married in Lyttelton, in 1938, and worked together for several years at the Salvation Army homes at Hodderville and at Temuka. They also have looked after children for the Department of Social Welfare. The couple have two children, four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
