PostBank

Sir,—l am yet another annoyed and frustrated Postßank person. My problem is that it takes two days for a deposit to be credited to my cheque account. In this age of fast communications, the question could by “why?” Because Oxford does not have a computer and the mail does not go out until late afternoon: whence it is sent to Rangiora : to be processed some time the next day, why should I

have to pay for overdrawn cheques when sometimes it is not my fault. I cannot blame my local Postßank office. I have a Christchurch city cheque account because of deductions.—Yours, etc.,

L. KERR. March 1, 1988

[The regional manager of PostBank, Mr D. J. Smith, replies: “The system of processing deposits accepted at Oxford is as described. However, the crediting of deposits shbuld be no later than the following day. This is being investigated with our agent. The question of computer facilities is at present being evaluated. With regard to cheque dishonours, the writer should discuss this i§sue with his/her bank manager, who will make the necessary arrangements to note records, thus eliminating any embarrassment.”]
