Whakatane meeting abandoned
PA Whakatane Gale-force i winds forced the Whakatane Racing Club to abandon its meeting atlTauranga yesterday.
Raceday [secretary, Les Lowry, said the decision was made at 6.45 a.m. for the (safety of both the jockeys and patrons. The winds had blown trees over at the course during the night and several windows in the stands had been blown out I I
Mr Lowry j said the club’s application for a date later this week had been turned down by the Racing Conference. The club will now look for a replacement date later tn the season.
