Alyslheba gains revenge
NZPA-Reuter [ Santa Anita Alysheba,} winner of the 1987 Kentucky Derby, gained revenge over his arch rival, Ferdinand, in the SUSI million Santa Anita Handicap on Monday. Ferdinand, which won the Kentucky Derby in 1986, beat Alysheba by a nose in a memorable race for the |SUS3 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Hollywood } Park in November.! *On Monday Alysheba, starting at| 2-1 favourite despite meeting his senior on slightly worse terms than in the! Breeders’ Cup, prevailed by half a length after going to the front just before the final turn. Super Diamond was third. Ferdinand’s trainer, Charlie Whittingham, said the horse would be at his best later in the season and would; turn the tables on Alysheba then.
