Champagne venture
New Zealand’s biggest wine-maker and one of France’s most famous champagne houses will join in a venture io produce methode j champenoise in Marlborough for the world market. Montana Wines, Ltd, and the historic house of
Champagne Deutz have signed a licensing agreement for a Deutz wine to be made using traditional methods and under constant supervision by experts from the 150-year-old French firm. Supplies of the first vintage will probably be all
taken up by New Zealand i champagne drinkers. As additional plantings in Montana’s Marlborough vineyards come into production, it is expected that the New Zealand Deutz I will be exported to Aus- i tralia, other Pacific Basin countries, and Europe. '
