Records equalled
Auckland The Canterbury swimmer, Anna Simcic, provided the highlight of the second session of the national junior championships when she equalled two outstanding records at Papakura last evening. In the 200 m butterfly for girls 15-17 years, she beat the top-seeded Linda Robinson (Canterbury) and Jane McDonough (Auckland). Simcic’s time of 2min ,20.58 s equalled Rebecca Per-
rot's championship record set in 1978. She equalled the 100 m backstroke record later in the session of the Metro-sure-sponsored ichampionships with her winning time of lmin 7.045. She now shares this mark with the Commonwealth games gold medallist Sylvia Hume. A Perrot record tumbled in the 200 m medley for girls 1517 years. Linda Robinson had a comfortable win — registering a time of 2min 24.97 s (was 2min 25.85), to claim the mark for 16-year-olds.
