Teams unbeaten
PA Auckland The Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury men’s teams remain unbeaten in the national water polo championships at Glenfield. Auckland trounced Waikato 25-6 after leading 12-2 at halftime. Svein Sandoy, the Auckland captain, netted six goals. Wellington beat Combined Services 10-8 in the openin
round and then Auckland B 15-7. Canterbury struggled for a time against Counties before winning 19-12. In the women’s section, Wellington made a strong impression in its opener against Waikato, winning 20-7. The defending champion Canterbury trounced Auckland B 24-3, with Nicki Chambers netting eight times.
