Wool prices ease at Wellington sale
PA Wellington Wool prices eased at yesterday’s combined Auckland - Wanganui - Wellington wool sale held in Wellington. The New Zealand dollar weakened 2.2 per cent from 5U50.6692 on Thursday to 5U50.6595 yesterday. The market indicator eased from 587 c clean per kilogram at the DunedinNapier sale on February 18 to 582 c. The offering of 2212 clean tonnes comprised 40 per cent lambs’ wool, 28 per cent crossbred second-shear, 20 per cent crossbred fleece, with the balance skirtings, oddments and miscellaneous.
Cotts were up to 2.5 per cent cheaper while bestlength good to averagestyle second shear and better were generally unchanged. Average-style secondshear was up to 2 per cent Poor-style oddments were slightly cheaper and first and second lambs’ wools were generally unchanged. However, 29 micron average to poor-style first lambs’ wool was slightly cheaper. The next sale is a Timaru-Invercargill sale in Christchurch on February 25. Price range The Wool Board's report on
