20-heat battle
Three hundred and twenty laps of exhilarating and heartstopping action is likely to be produced at Ruapuna Park speedway this evening as 16 of the top sidecar combinations battle it out over 20 heats for the New Zealand championships. , Top racing is on the cards with a good field having won a place through to this evening’s meeting with a North Island pairing likely to win the title. It has been four years since South Islanders, in the form of Christchurch’s Wayne Turner and Laurie McMahon, finished on top of the championship and with most of the North Island machines being powered by fuel injected IOOOcc motors they should have too much power for their southern counterparts.
