Skater strikes gold
NZPA-Reuter Nikolai Gulyayev, the Soviet speed skater who irrived for the Olympics embroiled in a steroids scandal, raced to glory on a day of drama and iisruption at the Winter Games yesterday. Gulyayev swept to victory in the men’s 1000 metres ifter the world sprint champion, Dan Jansen, met with more heartbreak when he fell approaching the final oend with gold in his grasp.
