Coast to coast
In the February 6 edition of "The Press,” it was incorrectly reported that Coleman Creagh and Eric Hunter had taken first-day honours in the two-day Steinlager Coast to Coast event.
Christopher Cox was actually first over the first-day finish line in a record time of 2hr 52min for the alpine run. Cox’s partner was Bernard Fletcher. In the article, it was said that Hunter had run the leg over the Mingha Deception route. This was in fact completed by Creagh, after Hunter had cycled the first leg of the race from Kumara. In Monday’s article on the event, we incorrectly reported that Claire Parkes, the winner of the open women’s section of the two-day event, had fallen in her cycling leg the previous day. It was Penny Webster (Cromwell) who fell from her bike, and carried on to finish third in the women’s section.
