Envers show more interest

Greater interest from buyers in adult sheep at the Addington market this week, helped increase prices by about $1 a head. The increase was about the only change to prices for prime stock at the sale from last week. Although some cattle prices were very good, bidding was not consistent and the over-all effect was for values to remain similar to last week. Prime lambs Lambs had a mediocre sale on a market depressed by large numbers of export-qual-ity works lambs, although prices remained similar to lact wppk Many of the works-grade lambs only made schedule prices but those at better quality were able to fetch more. Buyers were prepared to pay a premium for goodquality butchers' lambs with prices reaching $29. The yarding was 1210 compared with 1533 last week. Values were.— Heavy lambs, to $29. Medium lambs, $2O to $24. Light lambs, $l4 to $l9. Sales included: D. J. Turner (Hawarden), 27 at $19.40 to $23.20; G. A. and J. Me Vicar (Cashmere), 34 at $lB.BO to $23.20; A. R. G. Hogget prices improved along with the old ewes, with prices reaching up to $27.60 for a line from R. Sutherland, Blenheim. A total of 1462 sheep was yarded, compared with 1988 last week.
