Chch driver , wins jet boat sprint
PA Wellington The Christchurch driver Rodney Pohio splashed, slithered and sped his way to the inaugural world jet boat sprint title on the Hutt River yesterday. Pohio, aged 20, beat Gisborne’s Peter Briant by .51 seconds in the final of the Europa-sponsored winding course in 52.115. Pohio had set the fastest times through the last three rounds as the field was reduced from 32 to the two finalists, who met in a single run-off.
