Rededication
Dressed in period costume (from left), Mrs Maisie Ridder, Mrs Jenny Barlow, Mr Phillip Cooke, Mrs Lorraine Sutton, Mrs Margaret Shirlaw, and Mrs Carol Hadler, at the interdenominational rededication service of the old Ellesmere Methodist Church at the Ferrymead Historic Park yesterday afternoon. The Gothic-style church was donated to Ferrymead in 1978 and was
used by the New Zealand Vintage Phonograph Society as a club room and display hall. Now the 77-year-old church is being returned to its original function. A wedding will be held there this week-end. Mr Robin Sutton, the director of Ferrymead, said it was the park’s intention to make the church available for such ceremonies.
