Youth killed hunting
A Timaru youth died instantly when shot in the chest during a wallaby shooting expedition on Saturday afternoon. The police are treating his death as an accident. He was
Mark Johnston, aged 15
The accident occurred about mid-afternoon in the Otaio River Gorge, about 25km south-west of Timaru. His two companions told the police that Mark was using the butt of the shotgun to move bush and scrub.
It discharged, striking him in the chest. His friends walked out and alerted the police about 3.30 p.m.
