Nurses pay rise
PA Wellington Practice nurses will receive a 7 per cent wage increase after the settlement of their award. The Nurses’ Union industrial officer, Mr Neville Taylor, said the settlement on Friday also included a new section in the award dealing with emergency and afterhours clinics. This included increased provisions for security of
nurses working after hours and a new sexual harassment clause. Another new clause provided for standards of facilities for practice nurses. Mr Taylor said the union was pleased to have got the emergency and after-hours . clinics included in the award but would have liked more of a wage increase. The practice nurses award covers at least 2000 nurses.
