New home for the aged
A proposal to build an old people’s home on Horseshoe Lake Road has been approved by the Christchurch City Council town planning committee. The application from Ivanhoe Investments, Ltd, to convert an existing
building on the site and build additions to be used as an old people’s home did not receive any objections. The committee concluded the site was suitable, being near shops, public transport and a
park. Windsor House, another complex catering for the elderly in the area, and the Neighbourhood Support Group had indicated they would be willing to assist the residents.
