The president of the Electrical Supply Authorities Association, Mr Eric Johnston, said he was disappointed that the Government had not accepted Electricorp’s recommendation of a 6.7 per cent average wholesale electricity increase. The appointed professional directors of the corporation were in the best position to know what sort of income they required, he said. Mr Johnston said that the Government’s 7.5 per cent increase would push up its own tax take and dividend payments. While precise calculations had not yet been made, increases in most regions should be less than 10 per cent, Mr Johnston said.
