Noble Alm danger in Nelson Cop

Noble Alm, which outstayed the subsequent Amberley Cup winner, Brecola, to win over 2800 m at Motukarara earlier this month, looks likely to continue his winning way in the DB Draught Nelson Cup at the Nelson Trotting Club’s meeting at Richmond tomorrow. The four-year-old Noble Lord gelding began his racing career with a win at Addington in September, then repeated the dose at the South Island’s leading track, again over 2600 m mobile, two months later.

Noble Alm has shown improvement from standing starts of late and his latest win over Brecola also came at the expense of the useful mares, Imperial Kiora and Lady Rana, the latter notching

a win at Addington at her following start. His toughest opponent is likely to be Silver Beam, another lightly-raced four-year-old, which beat all but Cool Charm Girl over 3200 m at Addington on Tuesday evening. Silver Beam will be having his third distance race in a week since resuming at Amberley last Saturday, but is a promising stayer, which should be up to this task. Charles Nero, which resumed with a useful win over Mystic Bromac in the Amberley Three-Year-Old Stakes at Rangiora last Saturday, appeals most in the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Prince Albert Hotel Pace, with True Nat, a dashing seven lengths winner at Addington nine days ago, his main danger.
