More 3-D on TV?
Television audiences in the United States will enter a new dimension this year when “Moonlighting” becomes the first network series to broadcast part of an episode in 3-D. At least eight minutes of the season finale will be shown in 3-D, with the rest of the programme in the standard format. A new 3-D process being developed for the show will present a normal television picture when viewed without special glasses, unlike previous three-dimen-sional films, which have shown a double image when viewed with the naked eye. Coca Cola, which will promote the special episode to be screened in the United States in May, is also planning a 60second commercial in 3D. T.V.N.Z. hopes to buy a 3-D episode of “Moonlighting” for screening in New Zealand.
